	PREAMBLE We, the team members of the Department, here set forth our belief as to the purpose for which the Department is established. We pledge our effort to the accomplishment of this purpose by adhering to the core values enumerated. BASIC PURPOSE The basic purpose of the Department is to strive to ensure that financial collective investment schemes (institutions and services) available legally to the South African public, are conducted on a sound and efficient manner in the interest of investor protection.
