Invitation to the Insurance Regulatory Seminar 05 October 2010
 

Mr Jonathan Dixon, Deputy Executive Officer of the Financial Services Board’s Insurance Division, invites you to the Insurance Regulatory Seminar to share with you information on regulatory developments in the short-term and the long-term insurance industries. The Seminar will be taking place at the CSIR International Convention Centre, Meiring Naude Road, Brummeria, Pretoria, on 5 October 2010, from 8:30 to 15:30.

Topics that will be addressed are:

• An overview of regulatory developments: touching on recent Board Notices issue; time barring provisions in the PPR; planned legislation and subordinate legislation for 2010/2011; draft regulations on binder agreements; requirements with regard to causal event charges in Part 5 of the Regulations issued under the Long-term Insurance Act; new or planned directives / information letters with specific reference to policy loans, group schemes and requirements for security to be provided in terms of section 45 of the Short-term Insurance Act.

• Supervisory matters: touching on Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM) project and statutory reports.

• FAIS matters: Code on Conflict of Interest.

• Our Guest Speaker from the National Treasury will share information on policy formulated on micro insurance, consumer credit insurance and the demarcation between medical schemes and health insurance.

The Seminar is targeted at insurance company management and employees responsible for regulatory compliance issues.
